The Upper West Regional Risk Communication and Community Engagement sub- committee organized its maiden meeting since its inception last year.

Addressing the media after the meeting, the Upper West Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Damien Punguyire, said the stakeholders engagement seeks to campaign against misinformation and disinformation towards health interventions.

According to him the risk communication and community engagement committee comprises important stakeholders such as NCCE, traditional authorities, the media and institutions that matters in healthcare promotion and intervention.

He stressed that, the stakeholders engagement would go along way to counteract any misinformation and all other negative campaign against essential health care delivery in the region within the public space.

The regional director also appealed to the media in the region to be circumspect in their reportage as they are the mouth piece of the public.

He cautioned residents in the region to practice safety precautionary measures as we’re in the season of manigitis.

He said students in various schools with large numbers should sleep in open areas related to ventilation and urged individuals to immediately report cases of manigitis to the nearest health facilities for attention.
