UW : Prison Commander Appeals for office Complex in Wa Central Prison
The Assistant Director of Ghana Prison Service in Wa Central Prison of the Upper West Region ADP Joseph Miyela has appealed to Wa Municipal Assembly for an office complex in the Central Prison to address the office deficit in the Prison.
The Wa Central Prison Service in the upper west is confronting an acute infrastructure and logistical deficit that affect the operation and care of the prison inmates.
The Commander made this appeal at the Wa Central Prison on Monday 6 November, 2023 when the Wa Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin presented 20 dual desks to the Wa Central Prison to improve Teaching and learning for the inmates in the region.
The senior officers according to the Regional Commander, have no office accommodation to sit and perform their duties.
He stated that ” Honorable I have a very big challenge, which I want to use this opportunity to appeal to you that my officers, the senior officers in particular have no single office accommodation. You can look at them behind you, we have only three (3) offices in the whole upper west regional prison administration”.
ADP Joseph Miyela has humble called on the Wa Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin to construct an office complex for the Wa Central Prison to aid the officers and inmates.
In a short speech before the presentation, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin expressed the readiness of the Assembly to aiding the prison as far as education of the inmates is concerned.
The MCE added by indicating that ” As Municipal Authority we would be ready and willing to support in our widow’s minds to ensure that our brothers here get the best”,
He however urged the Commander to always notice the office of the assembly for the needy support without any hesitation.
The Assembly on the same day, also made another donation of 30 dual desks to Dinaso Primary School under Jonga Electoral Area in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West to improve furniture deficit in the School.
