Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Daffiama-Busie Issa Constituency in the Upper West region, has warned the public against indiscriminate bush burning, which could lead to devastating bush fires at this critical time of the year. Speaking at the 2024 Farmers Day celebration in Issa, Hon. Sanda, who is also the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Daffiama-Busie Issa district, reminded the people of the destructive effects of bush fires on the environment and farm crops.
He advised farmers and hunters to exercise caution in their activities to prevent bush fires. Additionally, Hon. Sanda urged farmers to create fire belts around their farms before setting fires to prevent the spread of fires to nearby farms and bushes.
Aside from the Farmers Day awards, Hon. Sanda personally donated three motorbikes and four bicycles to some farmers to encourage their hard work and dedication to farming.
Mr. Timothy Ngmenbambo from Issa was crowned the 2024 Overall District Best Farmer, while Mr. Mohammed Shaibu secured the first runner-up position. They received a tricycle, motorbike, certificates, and other items, respectively.
Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda commended farmers for their tireless efforts, which significantly contribute to the government’s initiatives for district development and food security.
