ELECTION 2024: Foiled Attack on Prof. Titus K. Beyuo at Campaign Event in Kucha
A near-tragic incident unfolded during a campaign engagement in Kucha when an attack targeting Prof. Titus K. Beyuo, an NDC parliamentary candidate for Lambussie, was thwarted.
According to a press briefing held earlier today, the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, around 7:30 pm. Prof. Beyuo was addressing community elders and members when tensions flared. Isaac Beyuo, known locally as Kuubere and identified as a supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), engaged in a heated altercation with a member of Prof. Beyuo’s team.
Kuubere reportedly issued death threats before leaving the scene on a motorbike, only to return later, handing over a loaded locally manufactured pistol to an accomplice, Philip Wonenuo. Vigilant members of Prof. Beyuo’s security team intervened, apprehending Wonenuo before any harm could be done. The weapon was seized, and Wonenuo is currently in police custody, with legal proceedings expected to commence in Wa today.
The primary suspect, Kuubere, fled the scene and remains at large. Prof. Beyuo has called on the public to assist the police with any information regarding Kuubere’s whereabouts.
Despite the ordeal, Prof. Beyuo expressed gratitude to his security team for their professionalism and the police for their swift action. He reiterated his resolve to continue campaigning and delivering quality leadership for the people of Lambussie, undeterred by intimidation.
Prof. Beyuo’s statement concluded with an appeal to ensure justice for all involved in the attack while thanking community members and chiefs who offered support during the crisis.
