National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer for the 2024 Ghana Presidential Elections, John Dramani Mahama, has called for an organic approach to build Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars.

He said this in his address at a rally at the Bukom Boxing Arena in the lead up to the December Polls where he stated that the Bukom Arena wasn’t “fully activated” and that should his party gain power in December, that situation would be reversed.

“We must bring back the inter schools football, we must bring back the Milo Championships, we must bring back the Academicals…so that we can pick the talents. The thing about the Ghana team is, we have individual talents but they don’t have enough playing time together. Right now, they are not playing as a team, they are playing as individuals…but it won’t take us far unless we do it in a more organic fashion.”

The Black Stars recently beat Mali and Central African Republic in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers but have suffered back to back first round exits at the CAF AFCON.
