A researcher and native of Dorimon Traditional Council, Dr. Adams Sabogu, has expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the chiefs, Tendambas, and people of the Dorimon Traditional Council for their support during his doctoral research thesis project in the community, on the topic: “The Making of Pognaa (Woman Chief) within the Dorimon Political System: Intersections of Power, Gender and Leadership in a Postcolony.”
Dr. Adams Sabogu made this statement on Saturday, 21st February 2026, during a community dialogue forum on the making of Pognaa within the Dorimon Traditional Council, which he organised and was supported by the Institute of Global Value Inquiry. The forum was organised for the chiefs, Pognamine, and Tendambas across the Traditional Council to deliberate on the installation of women as Pognamine in the Traditional Council, to support the chiefs in driving development across the various communities within the Dorimon Council and beyond.
Addressing the chiefs and Pognamine at the Dorimon-Naa Palace, Dr. Adams Sabogu highlighted the importance of the dialogue forum. He indicated that the main purpose of the meeting was to provide feedback on the research he conducted to the chiefs and people of Dorimon, and to thank them for their support during the research exercise carried out in the community. He added that the forum also sought to examine and brainstorm on what the concept of “Pognaa” truly means to the Dorimon community.

In his presentation, the researcher categorically stated that the research was conducted solely for his doctoral degree study and not for any manipulation of Dorimon traditional history as far as chieftaincy matters in the society are concerned. He explained that researching this topic raised a number of questions about the “Pognaa” concept that need to be clarified by traditional authorities — particularly within the Dorimon Traditional Council.
Dr. Adams also used the opportunity to call for broader dialogue on the concept of “Pognaa” within the Dorimon Paramountcy, for the peaceful installation of a Pognaa (Woman Chief) within the Dorimon Traditional Council.
The Paramount Chief of Dorimon, Naa Alhaji Seidu Tungbani Salinbile II, in his brief remarks, acknowledged Dr. Adams Sabogu’s commendable work on the research. He stated that the research would help strengthen the history and culture of the traditional area, and that the “Pognaa” concept would also create opportunities for women to contribute to the development of the Traditional Council. Naa Seidu Tungbani Salinbile II, on behalf of his chiefs and Tendambas, assured the researcher of their readiness to engage in intensive dialogue to promote Dorimon history and culture through proper and peaceful means.
