Ghana is today celebrating the 41st National Farmers’ Day, a significant event that recognizes the invaluable contributions of farmers and fishers to the country’s food security and rural economy. The celebration, which commenced on December 1, features a week-long showcase of agricultural innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening Ghana’s food systems and improving resilience in the sector.
This year’s theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” underscores the importance of promoting local agricultural production and consumption to ensure a secure future for the country. The event aims to honor farmers and fishers who have demonstrated excellence in productivity, innovation, and community impact.
The celebration kicked off at the Ho Sports Stadium with the launch of the 2025 National Agricultural Fair, which drew thousands of farmers, agripreneurs, policymakers, investors, and exhibitors from across the country. Today, President John Dramani Mahama will honor the national best farmers across various crop categories and other key areas of agriculture.
Farmers’ Day remains a major national platform for celebrating the contribution of farmers and fishers to Ghana’s development. The event provides a vital platform for promoting dialogue and innovation, encouraging farmers and stakeholders to adapt to environmental changes and adopt best practices in agriculture.
