A promising partnership is taking shape between Ghana and India, one that could open new doors for healthcare delivery, pharmaceutical production, and job creation in both countries.
Leading Ghana’s delegation are Hon. Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment; Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister for Food and Agriculture; and Abdul Azeez Samira, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA). The team is currently in Hyderabad, India, from June 14th to 21st, exploring sustainable collaborations in health and industry.
The visit follows ongoing efforts by Dr. RamaMohan Reddy, a respected Indian oncologist, and Mr. Nagarjun Reddy, Director of Virupaksha Organics, to strengthen healthcare ties with Ghana. Dr. Reddy, who has treated Ghanaian cancer patients since 1997, is working towards establishing a cancer hospital in Ghana.
Virupaksha Organics, known for its world-class pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, is exploring opportunities to partner with Ghana in local medicine production, potentially reducing healthcare costs and creating new jobs.
This visit presents a valuable opportunity for both countries to deepen ties, share expertise, and expand investment. For Ghana, it could mean improved cancer care and a strengthened pharmaceutical sector. For India, it opens access to new markets in West Africa.
Together, Ghana and India are laying the groundwork for a partnership rooted in people, progress, and sustainable development.
