Philanthropist Donates Books And Reading Lamps To Charikpong Circuit Schools

A philanthropist cum indigen of Charikpong Dr. Mark Malanko has made a hefty donation of books and solar powered lamps to schools in the area.

The massive donation, which was made by Dr. Mark Malanko and his wife Valerie Malanko, left many inspired as it runs into thousands of Ghana Cedi.

Speaking at the event, the chairman for the head teachers of the circuit Mr. Ali Nuhu, highlighted some challenges the community is being confronted with.


He lamented that the pupils study Information Communication Technology without electricity calling on more philanthropists to assist teachers with accommodation and a library for the circuit.

On his part the Chairman of Charikpong Community Development Association Mr. Francis Xavier Kambotuu, admonished community members to support their children in school.
He also bemoaned the galamsey menace in the community which he says is taking a heavy toll on education since most of the pupils are abandoning school to engage in it.
“I wish to call on other natives who God has blessed to take a cue from this kind gesture to do same”, the Chairman pleaded.

Mr. Kambotuu further lamented on the intermittent preparation of food by caterers in the basic schools.

The DCE for the Nadowli-Kaleo district was represented by David Wuoladire an assistant director at the assembly. He lamented the decision by most parents to decline the payment of school fees in disguise of poverty.
Addressing the people gathered Dr. Mark Malangko and his wife admonished the pupils and teachers to put the books and solar reading lamps to put them to good use.
In all 1,460 books and 948 solar reading lamps to 10 schools in Charikpong circuit.
The program was heavily attended by the community leaders including chiefs, assembly members, community members and pupils.
