The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has emphasized that the party is committed to driving development in Wenchi and restoring the area to its former prominence. He made this statement while addressing community stakeholders and party supporters at Nkonsia in the Wenchi Constituency during his “Thank You” tour of the Bono Region.
Mr. Nketiah commended the people of Wenchi for their massive support in the 2024 general elections, describing the outcome as impressive and reassuring. He acknowledged the level of support the NDC secured in both the presidential and parliamentary polls and urged the people to continue rallying behind the party to help drive development in the area.
The NDC National Chairman also addressed concerns about the poor state of roads in the area, highlighting the government’s efforts to improve the infrastructure. He mentioned the awarding of contracts for the Wenchi-Wa road, the inclusion of the Wenchi-Sampa Road under the “Big Push” initiative, and plans to work on the Nsawkaw-Berekum road. According to him, the completion of these projects would bring significant transformation and improve connectivity between Wenchi and other parts of the region.
Mr. Nketiah’s comments were echoed by community leaders, including the Wenchi Akyeamehene, Nana Damoah Koasane Adusi Poku Kafabaae IV, who commended the government for its development initiatives and appealed for prioritization of youth unemployment to advance the socio-economic development of the country. The MP for Wenchi Constituency, Alhaji Haruna Seidu, also praised the government for the remarkable improvements witnessed in the area within just one year of the current administration.
