A private legal practitioner, Lawyer Juliana Oduro Iddrisu has indicated her resolve to support women to develop their entrepreneurial skills for sustainable livelihoods.
She made the comments when she donated three Haojin motor bikes to women in the opposition National Democratic Congress through the Upper West Regional Chairman.
Speaking to the media after the donation, Lawyer Juliana Oduro Iddrisu who is the wife of Lawyer Wahid Iddrisu Bampuori said the purpose of the donation was to enhance the capacity of women who are championing the course of the NDC in the region.
“The purpose of this is the fact that women are severely under represented in policies and I like to support women for the social Democratic course which the NDC is a champion of.”
According her, she is ready to support women adding that she is pleased to contribute her might to women who are campaigning and advocating for the local community.
She said she is donating to the women who are heading advocacy and campaign in the NDC and urged them to put together ideas and forward them to her for the necessary support.
“I am interested in women and business. I want them to drive policies. I like to support women in what they want to do. I am happy that women are in the forefront of politics today.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the region, the Upper West Regional NDC Chairman, Abdul Nasir Saani commended lawyer Juliana Oduro Iddrisu for her benevolence towards women in the region.
The Wa Central Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Sule as well as the Regional Women Organizer, Cecilia Hamza reiterated the need for such donations especially for women who are in the forefront of politics in the region.
The motorbikes were handed over to the Regional Chairman with one given to the regional women wing and two to the Constituency women wing.
The donation was done at the forecourt of the Wa Technical Institute assembly after a retreat by the NDC as part of the party’s reorganization agenda.
The Accra based private legal practitioner was accompanied by her husband, Lawyer Wahid Iddrisu Bampuori to attend the program.
