Northern Regional Security Council bans an already illegal act -Prostitution

Even though the act of prostitution is illegal in Ghana, the Chairman of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has stunned the legal fraternity by announcing a ban on the oldest trade in the world; prostitution.

According to the Ghanaian Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29) in Section 276 as amended by section 14 of Act 554 provides that, “any person who persistently solicits or importunes in any public place or in sight of any public place for the purpose of prostitution shall be liable for a first offence to a fine and for a second or subsequent offences shall be guilty of a misdemeanour.”

The Chairman apparently unaware of this has issued an official.
