By Erasung Tajudeen

The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has urged the president to pay attention to repeated pleas over the Upper West Region’s developmental difficulties.

A school bus for Wa Islamic SHS, a fence wall, and the construction of a polyclinic at Busa and Sing are just a few of the long-standing requests that Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of Wa Naa, emphasized to the President during a durbar of chiefs and residents of the Waala Traditional Area.

He noted that while some of the demands had been fulfilled, others were still on the to-do list.

In addition to granting the request for a pickup and a bus for Wa SHS, he praised the president for renaming the Wa Youth Resource Center in honor of B. K. Adama.

In addition to asking the president to provide a bus for Islamic SHS because the institution has a single transport for students and staff, Naa Kadiri highlighted the construction of a multipurpose hall for Wa SHS as a priority in order to accommodate over 2000 students.

He also emphasized the necessity of building a dual-carriageway from SDD-UBIDS to Wa Airport since traffic congestion makes driving challenging, particularly while tracks are traveling the route.

He further stated that the Wa-Busa-Bulenga project has been put on hold because the contractor left the construction site. He also lamented the negative effects of Wa’s lack of street lighting, stressing how it allows criminals to commit atrocities while also making it difficult for police to perform their duties.

President Akufo Addo revealed that the Public Procurement Authority is working to buy 3000 street lights as had been requested by the Regional Minister while also indicating that the basket of requests from the Wa Naa will be addressed.

Regarding security, the president mentioned that he had a meeting with senior members of the security agencies to discuss the necessity to keep positive relations with the general public in order to fend off terrorism and its components.

The president gave in to Wa Naa’s plea and authorized the building of a polyclinic for Busa and sing.

He added that work is being done to build a fence wall at the Islamic Girls SHS by the Zongo Development Fund.
