Video of Sosu appealing against blocking of roads during protest pops up.

A video has been released showing the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, appealing to some demonstrators against blocking roads.

On October 25, the MP led some of his constituents to demonstrate against poor roads in the constituency.

Part of the protest turned violent when Police attempted to arrest the lawmaker, accusing him of blocking a highway and destroying public property.

But in this new video, the MP appears to calm the angry protesters and advise them against blocking the roads.

He is seen in the video saying, “…When we are doing a demonstration, once the intention is I want to block roads, the Police can simply say that we’re breaching public order.

“You see, that will amount to breaching public order, and that is not what we want to do; we want to draw government’s attention without necessarily looking like we are breaking the law.”

The MP spoke to agitated protesters while a nearby untarred road had been blocked with burning tires.

The Police have been on the heels of the legislator, attempting to arrest him on multiple occasions without success.

The Speaker of Parliament has also refused to release the MP to the Police for interrogation.

The Police have filed charges, including causing damage to public property, against Francis Xavier Sosu in court over the demonstration he led in his constituency in Madina.

The embattled MP is supposed to show up in court to answer the charges on November 8, although he insists he has not been served with any court documents.
