The Regional Minister has issued a public statement addressing allegations made by a Member of Parliament (MP) regarding the handling of the school feeding program. The Minister, compelled to respond due to numerous messages received, denied the claims and outlined steps taken to address concerns about the program, urging the MP to verify information before resorting to social media.
In the statement, the Minister detailed actions taken after receiving a letter requesting details about the school feeding initiative. On Thursday, in the presence of Hon. Pelpuo, Hon. Jasaw, the Regional Chairman, and others, the Minister raised concerns about the program directly with the President, who assured that the matter would be investigated.
Further, on Friday, May 16, the Minister convened a meeting with all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), attended by Hon. Beyuo, to discuss the situation. The Regional School Feeding Coordinator was called upon to provide clarity, as her office directly liaises with the National Coordinator. The Minister firmly denied any personal communication with the National Coordinator or retaining 30% of funds, as alleged.
The Minister expressed disappointment that the MP did not seek clarification from those accused before publicizing the claims on social media. “I wish to advise the MP that social media is not where the solution lies,” the statement read, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue.
In a comment accompanying the statement, the Minister expressed hope that the response would restore “sanity” to the discussion and cautioned against spreading false or misleading information about others.
The statement concluded with well-wishes and an apology for any typographical or grammatical errors, underscoring the Minister’s commitment to transparency and resolving the issue. The public now awaits further developments as the investigation promised by the President unfolds.
