UWR: Centre For National Culture Launches Weavers Association

The Centre for National Culture has launched the Centre for National Culture weavers Association to train weavers across the Upper West Region.

The launch was held at the Upper West Regional Library in Wa on Saturday, December 11th 2021.

The Centre for National Culture Weavers Association also graduated the first batch of its trainees.

10 trainees who have been in apprenticeship for 3 years were graduated.

Chairman of the Centre for National Culture Weavers Association, Mr Kala Osman thanked the graduates for their patience and tasked them to be good ambassadors of the association and also train more people.

He added, “this association aims to bring weavers and the Centre for National Culture together to train the youth for self-employment”.

Yahaya Jamal, Director at the Centre for National Culture Upper West region, revealed they are struggling to get tools and machines for the trainees and called on philanthropists to support them with tools to start their businesses after graduation.
