The Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Hon. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has handed over a significant donation of medical equipment and furniture to the Bulenga Health Centre in a move aimed at facilitating its upgrade to full Polyclinic status and strengthening healthcare delivery throughout the constituency.
The ceremony, held at Bulenga, saw the presentation of essential diagnostic, maternal, and general care items generously provided by the MP to address critical gaps in the facility’s capacity. The donated items include:
– 20 Gun Thermometers
– 15 BP Apparatus (Sinocare brand)
– 7 BP Apparatus (Greenlife brand)
– 10 Foetal Dopplers
– 15 Manual Baby Weighing Scales
– 10 Adult Weighing Scales with Height Measurement (Seca brand)
– 26 Digital Electronic Thermometers
– 10 Nebulizer Machines
– 2 Patient Examination Couches
– 2 Patient Trolleys
– 4 Stethoscopes
– 10 Delivery Beds
– 15 HB Meters (URTD) complete with Strips
Hon. Jasaw highlighted that the equipment is strategically targeted to equip the health centre for expanded services as it advances toward Polyclinic level. This upgrade is expected to reduce the need for referrals in basic cases, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and provide better diagnostic capabilities for residents in this rural Upper West Region district.
Adding to the health infrastructure boost, the MP announced the forthcoming delivery of a Mobile Health Kiosk at Bulenga. The kiosk forms part of broader health initiatives spearheaded under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, designed to bring accessible primary healthcare closer to remote and underserved communities in the constituency.
The event drew notable attendance from district health officials, including Dr. Benjamin Aminyuure, the Wa East District Health Director, along with other health staff and traditional leaders from the area. Their participation reflected strong local support and collaboration in advancing healthcare priorities.
Dr. Aminyuure praised the MP’s timely intervention, stating that the donations would markedly enhance service quality, ease pressure on existing resources, and contribute to the overall strengthening of primary healthcare in Wa East District.
The gesture aligns with ongoing efforts to elevate health facilities in the constituency, where primary-level services have long predominated amid persistent calls for expanded capabilities, including specialist consultations and emergency care.
