 Wa West Assembly Empowers Vulnerable Apprentices with Tools for Economic Growth

On Monday, September 9, 2024, the Wa West District Assembly, led by District Chief Executive (DCE) Madam Vida Diorotey and District Coordinating Director Mr. Crispin K. Yango, donated working tools to vulnerable apprentices as part of the SOCO initiative project. The project aims to provide youth empowerment and skills development in the Wa West District.

The items presented included 50 sewing machines with tables and stools, 50 weaving equipment with stools, 50 hair-drying machines, and 10 SUSU Boxes with marking booklets. The beneficiaries were selected from various communities within the district.

In his welcome address, Mr. Crispin K. Yango outlined the selection process and emphasized the assembly’s efforts to support the people. Madam Vida Diorotey underscored the Nana Addo government’s commitment to skill development and poverty alleviation through initiatives like the SOCO project.

The DCE mentioned completed projects in the district, including CHPS, teachers’ quarters, and market stalls, funded by the SOCO initiative. She urged beneficiaries to use the tools wisely and assured those not registered yet that more items would be distributed soon.

The 2024 NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Saatiri James Kpirfaatey, appealed to the beneficiaries to vote for him and the NPP government for more opportunities in the district. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government for the initiative, which aims to alleviate poverty in the Wa West District.
