Deputy Minister For Sanitation And Water Resources Hon. Amidu Issahaku Chinnia Reconnects With Constituents

Member of Parliament for the Sissala East Constituency Honorable Amidu Issahaku Chinnia made an emotional return to the constituency to quantify the extent of damage caused by the recent torrential rainfall across the upper west region.

The Sissala East lawmaker, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, stormed selected portions of the constituency to get a first hand feel of the damages caused by flood.

Days of torrential rainfall in some parts of the upper west region has left many portion of the Sissala belt detached from the regional capitals.

A high powered delegation from government, led road Minister, Honorable Kwaku Ofori Asiamha were dispatched to the affected districts alongside the upper west regional Minister.

In his quest to get firsthand idea of the negative impact of the rainfall on his constituents, Hon Amidu Chinnia reconnected with the people of Sissala East alongside some key stakeholders.

In a Facebook post, Hon Amidu Chinnia confirmed visiting selected parts of the constituency.

“Touching base with my constituents and interacting with my people. I took the opportunity to visit a site in Nabugubelle where we’re constructing a six unit classroom block.

I spent good time travelling from Tumu through to Nabulo and Gbenewise to see for myself the impact of the heavy rains on our already bad roads and I can say our roads situation is bad. The Sissala East has suffered from decades of neglect in the road sector even though we remain the leading producer of maize to feed mother Ghana.

As the Member of Parliament, I will continue to collaborate with the ministry of roads and their relevant agencies to ensure existing road contracts are executed and some emergency ones awarded for execution.

I will remain focus on the job and engage in the debate at the end of my four years mandate. #Sissala East development my focus #”, Hon. Amidu Chinnia posted on his official social media handles.

His latest visit is a series of routine visits the Member of Parliament has been making since January 2020 after replacing compatriot Hon. Abass Ridwan Dauda.
