UWR: Admissions Pressure on Wa Technical Institute as freshers Begin Academic Work.

The Principal of Wa Technical Institute, Mr Saaka Adams has revealed that there is pressure as hundreds of parents and their children continue to visit the school in search of admission.

Some of these parents have abandoned the admission process of the schools their children were offered by the Computerised School Selection and Placement System(CSSPS) and are doing everything possible to relocate their wards to Wa Technical Institute, the Principal said to Home Radio on Monday, April 25th 2022.

Mr Saaka Adams said he is happy that many parents and children are now patronising technical and vocational training.

“I think now parents and children have seen the importance of technical training, some students who have good grades and have been placed in respectable Senior High Schools are leaving those schools to come to Wa Technical Institute”- Saaka Adams

Mr Saaka Adams said ” there is pressure on our first-year admissions, we have issued 790 admissions so far, but there are a lot of parents and children still pursuing new admissions. Some have abandoned the school they were placed in “.

He revealed that Wa Technical Institute declared space for 756 first years to be admitted for the 2021/2022 academic year.

However, a total of 1126 students were placed in the school by the CSSPS.
He added that 790 admissions have been issued as of April 25th, 2022.

According to the Principal, the school, however, lacks classrooms and dormitories to accommodate the freshers.

He, therefore, called on all stakeholders to come to the aid of the school in support to have more classrooms and dormitories.
