Coalition of CSOs call for peaceful elections

 

The coalition of Civil Service Organizations (CSOs) in governance and security has called for peaceful elections in the lead up to the 2020 polls.

The program which was held on 2nd December, 2020 at Pronet North office brought together CSOs such as Community Development Alliance (CDA), Pronet North and Caro Ghana seeks to play leading role in mobilizing eligible citizens to peacefully exercise their franchise in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to them, their goal is to ensure peaceful, fair and credible elections through voter education and monitoring against electoral violence.

The CSOs expressed concern over politics of personal attack, vilification, and insults while pointing out the need to reduce voter apathy and electoral irregularities.

They urged the youth to avoid been used to cause violence. They therefore encourage them  to educate their colleagues to see the elections as contribution to national development.

They advised the media to stop the use of insulting language and vile messages on radio as well as sensitize the public to engage in a peaceful political discourse ahead of the polls.

 

The coalition of CSOs  in governance and security is working with partners across all the 16 regions of Ghana and all the 275 constituencies to mobilize eligible citizens to turn out to vote on election day without any fear or intimidation.
