Healthway foundation, a humanitarian organization based in the Upper West Region has donated food items to inmates at Wa Central Prison in honor of this year’s Christmas.

The CEO of the healthway foundation, Madam Reyana Hakeem addressed the inmates and officers of Wa Central Prison and stated that the goal of the program was to make the prisoners happy over the holiday season.

“For most people Christmas is a day spent unwrapping presents, visiting loved ones and attending parties – but what is it like spending the day behind bars? No presents, no family, and no parties, especially the ‘all white party” which just took place yesterday at Fugitive night Club and know many of you would have wished to attend,” she said.

“It is on the backdrop of this, that Healthway Foundation as usual has decided to step in to make this Christmas a memorable one for inmates – to eat, drink and Share the love. This is to ensure they don’t miss home.”

The inmates had the opportunity to contact responsible members of society who gave them advice on how to live moral lives both inside and outside the prison.

“Directors, this is not our first time nor is it going to be our last. We have over the years helped this prison to make sure the inmates live decent lives,” she noted.

Besides the parties and medical screening, Madam Reyana said the foundation has over the years made several donations including medical logistics for the health need of the inmates, a forty-three (43) inches television and a Dstv decoder for entertainment, blankets, used clothing, ablution cans, praying mats for Muslim inmates, detergents, buckets, mattresses and many more.

She gave the audience assurance that her foundation would continue to give support to the inmates at Wa Central Prison.
