SRC president of NJA CoE worried about impact of strike

The SRC president of Nusrat Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education, Nabie Razak is worried about the impact of the strike by Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG).

According to him, the strike action has affected teaching and learning which will affect the academic calendar.

He called on the government to as a matter of urgency address the concerns of the staff of colleges of education for the resumption of academic activities.

He noted that, the absence of the Tuitors and non-teaching staff on campus has brought about disorder among the students though some measures were put in place by the student leadership in the interim.

He expressed worry over the situation and appealed to the government and other stakeholders to consider the plight of the students by speeding up the negotiation process.

The local Chairman for Nusrat Jahan College of Education, Mr. Salahudeen Bin Alhassan in an exclusive interview with Home Radio explained the rational of the reactivation of the strike by CETAG and CENTSAG.

He said the strike at this moment is necessary because government has failed to honor its promises with CETAG and CENTSAG in 2021.

He insisted that the strike is not going to be called off anytime soon if their demands are not met and implemented thereof.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of Colleges of Education have embarked on an industrial strike over the Government’s failure to implement their agreed 2022 conditions of service.

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG) issued a communiqué on November 4, 2022, warning the Government of their intended strike action if the Government failed to implement the agreed conditions by Friday, November 11.
