COVID-19 Vaccine; Zongo Development Fund Secretariat sensitizes Zongo Communities
The Zongo Development Fund Secretariat has embarked on a sensitization tour in Zongo communities over the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination exercise.
Ghana has rolled out a National deployment plan for vaccination against Covid-19 and targets to vaccinate 20 million citizens by June 2021 despite widespread distrust over the vaccine.
The Zongo Development Fund Secretariat has encouraged residents of Zongo communities to embrace the vaccination exercise when the vaccines are brought to their communities.
A team from the secretariat led by the Upper West Regional Nasara Coordinator of the NPP, Alhaji Hamid Osman on Thursday, March 18th, 2021 met the chiefs and elders of the Wa Zongo community on the need to take the jab.
Alhaj Hafis Bamba, the research, monitoring, and evaluation officer of the Zongo Development Fund Secretariat, said they are in the Upper West region to sensitize the people on the need to take the Covid-19 vaccines.
“Fortunately or unfortunately it looks like the Zongo people are the ones that are refusing, because of the information that they got from naysayers of the vaccine”, he said
He said the reason for the sensitization program was to debunk the misconceptions against the vaccine.
He further spoke against the myths surrounding the vaccines and urged members of the community to take the vaccine, saying “I have been taken the vaccine and has been okay since.”
He added that the people should be grateful to Allah for giving some people the knowledge to come out with a vaccine for covid-19, which has ravaged the world.
He tasked the leadership of Wa Zongo Community to emulate the example shown by some prominent persons, including the President, H.E Nana Akufo Addo, the Vice President, Mahamadu Bawumia, Former President John Mahama, the Asantehene and the National Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Nuhu Shaributu who have all taken the Covid- 19 vaccine.
