A terminal building will be provided for Wa airport- Hon Hassan Tampuli

The deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Gushiegu Constituency, Hon Hassan Tampuli has revealed that plans are far advanced to provide a terminal building at the Wa airport.

Addressing stakeholders at a forum organized by the Ministry of Energy to collate ideas on the energy transition plan, the lawmaker noted that feasibility study is ongoing and the terminal building will be constructed in due course.

He said the edifice will form part of numerous infrastructure that has been undertaken to improve connectivity in the aviation sector.

“A number of infrastructure has also been undertaken to improve connectivity. A number of MP’s have filed questions on the status of the Wa airport. Feasibility study is underway and I believe in due course, a terminal building will be provided for the good people of Wa.” Hon Hassan Tampuli stated.

The airstrip currently boasts a two-kilometre tarmac with a 40-metre width which makes it capable of hosting Code C type aircraft which includes Boeing 737-700 Airbus and Embraer ERJ 190-100. The tarmac is longer than that of the Kumasi Airport as it is now and secured with barbed wires.

Domestic airline, PassionAir, has commenced flight operations in December 2021 from Accra to Wa in the Upper West region.

In a week, there are flights to Wa for three days; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
