Regional Minister to deal with headmasters who rent out school buses

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has cautioned heads of second cycle institutions to desist from renting out school buses for social activities.

He insisted that the buses have been provided for academic and administrative purposes to improve performance in secondary schools.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih made this known after presenting seven buses and a pick up to secondary schools in the Upper West Region.

The Minister cautioned head masters and mistresses not to give out the buses for people to attend funerals and other social activities or face his wrath.

“I hope the buses will be used for the intended purposes. Often I get worried that the buses are used for other activities.”

“The buses are to be used for academic and administrative purposes and not other social activities. Once I have cautioned you, I am going to put my ears on the ground and watch. Any headmaster who will go against this caution will be dealt with. I am not going to tolerate that. They are to be used specifically for academic and administrative purposes.” he stated.

He also admonished school authorities to exercise good maintenance culture on the buses to extend their life span while blaming the lack of logistics in schools on misuse of public assets.

“Also people do not maintain public assets. If you maintain them well their live span will be expanded. Often heads of institutions come to my office through the regional director indicating that they do not have the needed logistics. But it is always as a result of the misuse of these logistics that are provided to these educational institutions.”

The beneficiary schools include; Kaleo Senior High Technical (KASHTS), Wa Senior High School (WASHS), Jamiat Islamic Girls, and Wa Technical School among others.
