I could not retain my position despite spending over GHC 2 billion- Mustapha Goveir

By Erasung Tajudeen

Mustapha Goveir, a former regional organizer for the governing New Patriotic Party, said that he spent more than GHC 2 billion yet was unsuccessful in winning reelection.

He said that the funds were gathered from party leaders as financial backing for the Upper West Regional Delegates Conference.

By a margin of 33 votes, Mustapha Goveir failed in his effort to be re-elected as the regional organizer, and he blamed Wa central and Nadom constituencies for the outcome.

The NPP spokesperson reiterated during his appearance on the Tegyaayele program on Home Radio that he doesn’t regret their vote against him.

Speaking about the party’s decision to recover assets that are in the possession of the former executives, Goveir insisted that he does not have any such assets because the assets that were assigned to him were later given to other party members, who, according to Goveir, will return the assets to the party as soon as possible.

He explained that he had already established himself before the NPP came to power while rejecting claims that he had enriched himself at the expense of the party.

He emphasized his kindness to party members while accusing them of spreading untruths against him.
