A lady believed to be in her early 30s was found burned to death on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in Chaggu, a rural village in the Wa East District of the Ipper West Region.

When a chamber, which is believed to be a fuel storage room, caught fire on Thursday between the hours of 9:00 and 10:00 pm, Madam Waris Bintu died suddenly.

Abdulai Shaihid, the Assembly member representing the Chaggu Electoral area, confirmed the incident in an interview with Home Radio but said the cause of the incident had not yet been determined. He made a hint that the fuel might have been the cause of the escalation but questioned what might have set it off.

Mr. Shahid claims that the deceased woman’s husband sells little amounts of gasoline and that it is always kept in the room with other things like farm produce.

“No one can explain how it all began more effectively. When they attempted to put out the fire after realizing the room was on fire, they discovered someone was inside.” the Assembly member said.

“We cannot establish whether the building’s connection to the national grid caused the fire, although it is possible. It’s possible that the gasoline caused it, but it’s still unclear what ignited it.”

The Assembly member also disclosed that the deceased woman’s husband collapsed on the scene and needed to be taken to the hospital.
