I am spending over GHC 55,000 in the health sector- Bede Ziedeng

Hon Lawyer Bede A. Ziedeng, Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency has revealed that he has spent an amount of GHC 55,373 in the health sector as part of efforts to improve health care delivery in the area.

In a bid to make health facilities more functional and efficient, the MP rehabilitated water systems in Domwine and Eremon Health Centers.

This forms part of the vision of the lawmaker in providing potable water within the constituency.

The cost of the rehabilitation works on the two facilities according to the legislator cost GHC 24,970.

In separate ceremonies to commission the projects at Domwine and Eremon, the MP indicated that he conducted an inventory of the health facilities in order to determine the challenges facing the sector as Domwine and Eremon health centers were identified as areas of concern by the Municipal Health Directorate.

The cost of the rehabilitation exercise in Domwine and Eremon health centers is GHC 10,448 and GHC 14,521 respectively and this adds to the earlier cost of GHC 20,403 expended in the provision and installation of air conditioners acquired for the cold room at the health directorate where vaccines and essential drugs are stored.

“I am spending over GHC 55,373 on the health sector in the municipality so far. This is intended to improve upon and enhance health delivery in the Constituency.”

The lawmaker added that the exercise included the rehabilitation of 43 broken down boreholes in the Constituency of which 12 have already been repaired.

He assured the people of continuous collaboration with the relevant authorities to address the challenges facing the other sectors.

For his part, the Chief of Domwine, Naa Kanongo Kuukaa II was was grateful to the MP for taking steps to address the peculiar needs of the people unlike other politicians who fail to fulfill their promises.

He appealed to the MP and NGO’s to come to their aid in rehabilitating the nurses quarters to end the problem of nurses traveling from far distances to work.

Japiong Stephen Laari, in-charge at Domwine sub municipal, said the MP has delivered on his promise of addressing the water problem at Domwine facility in a courtesy call last year to assess the challenges pertaining health care delivery in the municipality.

Alexis Kuuridong, the Ag Municipal Director of Health Services in Lawra indicated that three areas of concern were identified and needed to be addressed urgently to enhance health care delivery.

According to him, the MP earlier assisted the health directorate to install air conditioners to keep the temperature in the cold room at recommended level in order to preserve and improve the potency of vaccines used for immunization.

The Ag Director of Health Services appealed to the MP to continue to come to their aid in terms of providing motor bikes, hospital beds and additional wards to improve emergency response and ease congestion in the facilities.
