NDC Primaries: Dr. Jasaw files his nomination forms

The Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw on Monday 20th March 2023 successfully filed his nomination forms at Kpagilahi in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region in order to be retained as the parliamentary candidate in the 2024 parliamentary election.

This comes after the NDC national secretary instructed current lawmakers to submit their nomination papers by March 20, 2023, at the latest, due to legislative obligations.

Addressing branch executives and party sympathizers at Kpagilahi, the lawmaker was quick to appreciate the efforts of the people for his victory in the 2020 parliamentary election.

He claimed that even though his party is not in power, he has pushed to bring to the constituency development projects in a variety of fields, including agriculture, health, water and sanitation, education, and many others.

He said that his supporters, primarily the young, paid for his nomination forms to demonstrate their desire to keep him as the parliamentary candidate, mostly due to his influence on the district.

The branch executives, he added, are the guardians and foundation of the party within the area, and they must be provided financial support whenever possible to recognize their contribution to the expansion of the party at the grassroots level.

The Member of Parliament expressed his gratitude to the branch executives, supporters, and elders for their invaluable help and contributions in ensuring the nomination forms were successfully filed.

After receiving the forms, the Wa East Elections Director, Mr. Mahama Salifu, thanked Dr. Seidu Jasaw for following the instructions and successfully submitting his nomination while cautioning the MP and his supporters to conduct their campaign without using insults.

In a statement of support, the Kpagilahi landlord, Mr. Abudi Iddrisu, praised the MP’s wife for her kindness and service to the residents of Wa East.

He promised the MP of their unwavering support in his campaign for re-election to a second term in the House of Representatives.
