Peter Lanchene urges candidates for constituency executive elections to refrain from insult- and attack-based politics

Peter Lanchene Toobu, a Member of Parliament for the Wa West Constituency, has urged NDC candidates running for constituency executive positions to abstain from insult- and attack-based politics.

The Member of Parliament made this request during a brief conversation with these aspirants in the constituency on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in Wechau.

Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu implores candidates to run a classy campaign and explain to delegates what they will bring to the table in terms of leadership if given the nod rather than making false promises and disparaging one another during and after the elections.

In order to come together and prepare effectively for the general elections in 2024 and restore the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power, he said, there should be peace and unity in the elections.

The use of violence and insults in politics, he continued, is doing more harm than good for the party and dividing its members both before and after elections.

He stated that if a candidate lacks strong political leadership abilities, no amount of violence or insult will help them win an election.

He implores people who will not have the chance to vote in the election to stay with the party and help the victor in their efforts to win the general elections.

He nonetheless vowed to support each candidate and wish them well, saying that he was prepared to work with whoever the honorable Delegates chose as their winner.

The Upper West Regional Chairman for the NDC, Mr. Abdul-Nasir Saani alias Chairman Bunas, who was present at the meeting reaffirmed his support for the election’s sanity before, during, and after voting.

He also urged everyone to work together to ensure that the party wins the general elections in 2024.
