North Tongu MP thanks constituents for Voter registration patronage

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has thanked the people in the area for the high level of patronage in the just ended voter registration exercise.

In a Facebook post, the law maker listed the number of registered voters in the constituency in the past 4 years which indicates a voter population increase over the period.

Mr Ablakwa’s post came after the NDC alleged that there were voters suppression in the party’s strongholds and unfavorable treatment of persons believed to be sympathizers of NDC including polling agents that the registration process is not fair.

However, the North Tongu legislator felt vindicated with the number of people registered in his constituency which far exceeds the number of people on the old voter’s Register.

He indicated that 54,338 people registered in 2106, 59,572 registered in the 2019 and 60,230 people registered in 2020 establishing an increase of 658 voters.

Interesting stats from our North Tongu voter’s registration:

Registered voters for 2016 election – 54,338.
Registered voters after 2019 limited registration – 59,572.
Registered voters as at 6th August 2020 – 60,230.

I thank my beloved constituents for defying the odds, like many other Ghanaians, to get their names on the new register.

Hopefully, the unfounded fixation of having an ECOWAS Register shall now give way to the execution of bold transformative policies that will make Ghana the land of real opportunities and the indisputable reference point in ECOWAS, the AU and beyond.
