Re-collate Techiman South results – Minority petitions EC

The Minority in Parliament have petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday December 22 to compel the body to re-collate the results of the parliamentary election in Techiman South.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu told journalists after the march to the EC headquarters that the NDC wants “Techiman South results before January 7, by all means necessary”.

“If Techiman South results is not resolved amicably and satisfactorily in accordance with the laws of Ghana and in particular with regulation 43 of CI 127 and more emphatically collation than openly and transparently by EC and we remain in denial that we don’t have the results for Techiman South we will be thinking through what to do on January 7,” he said.

The march is to prevail on the EC to overturn its declaration of President Akufo-Addo as winner of the 2020 elections.

There has been a series of protests by NDC supporters across the country against the EC’s declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of Ghana after the December 7 polls.

Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, who hinted of Tuesday’s march on Onua TV’s 100 Degrees on Monday, explained that the leadership of the party will not sit for the EC to take them for granted.

He explained that “we are marching to the EC office to express our displeasure against the EC. We will go to court. The NDC will go to court but before that, these series of protests are also parts of the process”.
