A team of youth in the Upper West Region has received support from Alhaji Alhassan Uthsman Gbangu, a philanthropist in the region, in the form of GHC 5000.00 to help them in their efforts to find those responsible for the killing and kidnapping of locals and the missing.

The Chief Executive Officer of Radio Waa also pledged to give out GHC10,000.00 for any whistle blower whose information would lead to the arrest of the true perpetrators of the murderers in the Wa Municipality.

On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Abayema Subur delivered the donation to the search team on behalf of the NDC financier during a brief ceremony that Wa Naa organized to inform the youth and sectional heads of communities about the progress made so far in the pursuit of the unidentified assailants in the Wa Municipality.

The Wa Naa commended Alhaji Alhassan Gbangu for helping the public find the criminals guilty for the death and disappearance of innocent individuals through his spokesperson, Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri Ibrahim.

Naa Kadiri Ibrahim used the occasion to appeal to the public to help fight crime in the municipality because, if the situation persists, it will spread to the rest of the region.

“Alhaji Alhassan Gbangu’s name is mentioned to serve us encouragement and recognition for his generosity and to get other people who are well to do in our society both living within the region and without the region to see the need to lend their support to fight crime in the Wa Municipality. If Wa continue to be an insecure place, then it will definitely be affecting the rest of the Upper West Region because as the regional capital every other person from any part of the region has something to do in the regional capital.”

“His majesty saw the need to have briefing with the youth and the Sectional heads of communities to give them hope that there is good news at the end of the tunnel and to also draw attention of the general security system that Wa is not out of the woods yet we are still struggling and fighting to get out of the predicaments.

Wa Naa expressed gratitude to the gallant search team made up of the youth for their sacrificial work towards finding both the perpetrators of these heinous crimes and also the victims of the unfortunate development who may have been buried unreasonably.

In addition to assuring the locals that traditional leaders, government organizations, security forces, and all other stakeholders are working together to lead the fight against crime in the society, he urged the search team to continue its efforts and work with the security services, particularly the police, to find a resolution to the situation.

According to Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri, Wa Naa is concerned about assertions made by a section of the community that the first suspect detained in connection with the deaths and kidnappings in the Municipality is mentally sick.

“We are the people troubled by these developments and we are the same people praying for the perpetrators to be exposed. The least he expects from us a people will be for us to conclude that the suspect is insane. Let’s leave everything to the police and the investigating team.”

Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri urged the populace to refrain from interfering with the police and the investigative team while they work, stressing that they should not be subjected to public debates or conclusions on whether or not a suspect is innocent.

“Let’s allow the professional investigators do their work so that if at the end of their investigations it is concluded that professionally, he is mentally challenged. If it is even confirmed that he is mad, it will still not exonerate him in our mindset that he cannot be behind this.”
