Over 200 Pupils in Bayaruu are forced to study under a thatched roof due to the lack of a school block in the Community.

Bayaruu is a farming community under Navilli Electoral area in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region with 200 households, and the Community is about 3 miles away from the Navilli.

Children under 5 years in this Community are struggling to get access to education due to the absence of school block in the community.

Speaking to Home Radio News in the community, the residents lamented over the developmental challenges facing the community notable among them was the lack of education for their children.

The residents in 2014 initiated a community base school by constructing a thatch roof to support the children while waiting for the adoption of the school by the Nadowli-Kaleo education office and the District Assembly.

According to the residents, several efforts have been made through the assemblyman but nothing positive has been done to provide a school for the community.

The Chief and Landlord of the community therefore appealed to the District assembly and the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon. Anthony M. Sumah to come to their aid.

Volunteer teachers and pupils in the school also used the opportunity to express their frustrations in carrying out academic activities under what they described as unfavorable conditions.

The Assembly member for Navilli, electoral area, Hon. Suwie Bede Leo, said he has reported the issue to both the assembly and Ghana Education Service but nothing has been done to make the situation better.

He called on philanthropists to support the community with decent classrooms for the children to have a better education.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Catherine T. Lankono failed to respond to the issue after she was contacted through a phone call by Home Radio.
