MP for Lawra Partners Health Democrats To Organise Free Health Screening for Constituents

Residents of Lawra Municipal and Baabile in the Lawra District on January 20, 2024 received free medical screening for various health conditions from a group of health professionals called “Health Democrats” and funded by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lawra Constituency, Hon. Bede Ziedeng.

The medical outreach which is one of his many Projects in the district to improve health care delivery in the Constituency and ensure that the people have access to check out their health status.
The residents were screened of Blood Pressure, eye screening, Malaria, Hepatitis B, Blood Sugar and many more.

As part of the exercise, the MP also donated pads to support young girls to care for their monthly menstrual cycle.
The lawmaker in his monitoring speeches, said the exercise formed part of his support as MP in the Constituency to engage the constituents and provide health care for them.

He said it was his vision to ensure that his constituents have access to quality healthcare irrespective of their economic situations and accessibility. Adding that, the screening exercise would go a long way to support the ageds and the vulnerable in the district to have access to examine their health status and also prevent self medications among the people.

The MP used the opportunity to thank the Health Democrat for the kind contribution, and called on the constituents to collaborate with them for the successful program.
He however promised to have the second phase of the program for some of the Communities within the district to get everyone has access to healthcare.

In an interview with Home Radio network, the Team Leader for the Health Democrat, Dr. Charles Lwanga Bayel said they are a registered organization to collaborate with other institutions and individuals to provide and bring such health screening exercises to the people particularly people without NHIS Cards and cannot have access to healthcare services in their various localities.
The leader indicated that, collaboration with the MP was necessary to relieve the people from struggling to reach health care services.

Dr. Lwanga however urged the people of Lawra and the entire region to take their health care serious and try to always do check out in every three months in order to prevent any health complications.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the MP for the screening, saying the exercise has helped them know their health statuses for better treatment.
