NDC questions the relevance of Bawumia over huge 2023 Hajj Fares

Upper West Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Issah Kantagyare, and the NDC have questioned the relevance of the Vice President, Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia over the huge increase in Hajj fares for 2023

The NDC in a press release bemoaned and kicked against what he described as wicked and Killer Hajj Fares under the Akufo Addo/ Bawumia government.

According to the NDC, it is surprising to witness such a huge increase in Hajj Fares at the back of Muslim vice presidents who campaign vigorously based on religion en route to office.

“It is therefore surprising and nauseating that Muslims, and for that matter, would-be pilgrims are made to go through astronomical and excruciating hard times in their attempt to perform this fifth pillar of Islam under a so-called Muslim Vice President. One would have thought that Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia who campaigned vigorously in 2016 using religion as a basis, would have always stood his grounds to ensure that issues of hajj and other related activities are handled and made better, but the opposite is the case”, the statement read.

Prospective pilgrims for this year’s Hajj are required to pay GH¢75,000 by April 30 to book their slots, the Ghana Hajj Board has announced.

According to an announcement issued by the Board, the amount is the Ghana Cedi equivalent of the pegged fee, which is US$6,500
