The sod has been cut for the dualization of internal roads in the Nandom Municipality, which is along the N12 highway that runs from Wa through Nandom to Hamile, by the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

President Akufo Addo vowed to always focus on Nandom Municipality when addressing the needs of the populace while speaking before a durbar of chiefs and citizens of the Nandom Paramountcy.

The president noted that Nandom was selected as one of the STEM school development sites to give the workforce an opportunity for hands-on instruction and that there are already preparations in place for fencing the walls of Ko SHS and the Nandom Midwifery school.

The administration, according to him, will investigate the potential of building housing for government employees in the Nandom Municipality.

Naa Prof. Edmund Nminyem Delle, the paramount chief of Nandom, said the building of the roads will allow access to marketing hubs for agricultural areas.

He did note, however, that the Municipality still faces some difficulties. For instance, he urged the President to give the local youth practical skills in order to lower the high unemployment rate.

He urged the president to create a technical boarding school in addition to the vocational school to make sure that many of the kids acquired the skills they needed to launch their own businesses and not rely on the government for white-collar jobs.

Naa Prof. Delle also took advantage of the occasion to implore the president to repair Nandom-Lambussie and the Nandom-Domwine-Jirapa to enhance easy transportation.

He referred to the Kanbar bridge, which connects Lawra and Nandom, as being despicable and claiming that it endangers both automobiles and passengers.

He pleaded with the President to take swift action to restore the bridge to avert any future disaster.

According to Minister for Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako-Attah, 18 road infrastructure projects have been finished in the Upper West Region under the leadership of Nana Akufo Addo.

Up to 110 road projects have been awarded and are now under progress, he claims.

Amoako-Attah stated during a durbar of Chiefs and People of Nandom paramountcy that Nandom has received its fair part of this significant road project across the entire nation.

The government has set aside funds to build 25 km of roads in the Nandom district, according to the member of parliament representing Atiwa West.

He also mentioned that phase one of the project, which consisted of 15 km of internal roads, was completed, and that the remaining 10 km, or phase two, would be finished on schedule.

President Akufo Addo cut sod for the 2 km dualization of internal roads in Nandom, which is a part of the N12 route that runs from Wa through Nandom to Hamile.

According to the Minister of Roads and Highway, the 2 km road will be built with a 7 km dual carriageway with two lanes, as well as a 2 m raced walkway on either side.

“The road is going to be raised to asphaltic level. We are going to do all concrete and other ancillary works along the stretch of this road. We are going to provide all road furniture around this stretch of road” he said.

Amoako Attah responded to a plea for the Nandom-Lawra and Namdom-Lambissie roads to be fixed by revealing that procedures are well under way to gratify their wish.

He estimated that the government would need to spend GHS 30 million on the Nandom-Lambussie route, and he also claimed that a contractor would be named very soon to fix the road.

Additionally, he stated that the repair of the Kambar bridge, which connects Lawra and Nandom, is about to start because four tracks are anticipated to transport the necessary supplies to the site for the start of the bridge’s repair work.
