The Chief of Wa Duori, Naa Blintoh Taasung Abdula, has announced a ban on the use of public address systems at marriage ceremonies within the Duori Traditional Area, particularly in Wa Dobile, following growing concerns over public indecency at such events.
Speaking to the media in Wa, Sunche Naa Saaka, on behalf of the Duori chief, explained that the decision was taken in response to increasing reports of indecent dressing and inappropriate dancing during wedding celebrations. These practices, he noted, have raised serious concerns among traditional authorities, religious leaders, and members of the community.
According to Naa Blintoh Taasung Abdula, marriage ceremonies are important cultural and religious occasions that must be conducted with dignity and respect. He therefore urged traditional leaders, assembly members, and security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of the directive across the area.
Another chief who addressed the press conference reiterated that all marriage ceremonies within the Duori Traditional Area must be organized without the use of loudspeakers or public address systems, calling on residents to comply fully with the ban.
The directive, the chiefs explained, is intended not only to reduce noise pollution but also to discourage behavior considered morally and culturally inappropriate. Traditional authorities say they will work closely with community stakeholders to enforce the ban and promote decency, respect, and adherence to cultural and religious values during marriage ceremonies.
