The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced a special initiative aimed at improving access to healthcare and expanding active membership under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

As part of the NHIS Active Month campaign, the NHIA has waived the one-month waiting period for both newly enrolled members and those renewing their NHIS membership after an expiry of more than three months. This waiver is effective throughout November 2025 and will run until December 14, 2025.

Eligible members who take advantage of this initiative will enjoy immediate access to NHIS services upon enrolment or renewal, bypassing the usual waiting period. The campaign is designed to make it easier for all Ghanaians to stay active on the scheme, ensuring uninterrupted access to quality, affordable healthcare.

Members can renew or enrol by visiting any NHIS District Office, using the MyNHIS App, or through the NHIS Mobile Renewal shortcode *929#. Additionally, the Authority encourages subscribers to opt for the Auto-Renewal service for a more convenient experience.

The NHIA particularly urges those whose membership has lapsed for more than three months to renew promptly and continue enjoying the benefits of the scheme.

For more information, members can contact the NHIS Call Centre via 6447 (MTN/Vodafone) or 054-444-6447.

Stay Active. Stay Protected. Stay Healthy.

NHIS – Your Access to Healthcare.
