The Paramount Chief of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, has led a high-level delegation to the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in Germany to initiate discussions with the President of the State of Parliament, Mr. Andrè Kuper and other state officials on establishing a twinning arrangement between Koforidua and key cities within the state, particularly Düsseldorf. The visit is part of broader efforts to foster international cooperation, cultural exchange, and sustainable development between Ghana and Germany.
The historic visit, which underscores Daasebre’s visionary leadership and commitment to the socio-economic advancement of the New Juaben Traditional Area, focused on developing mutual partnerships in areas such as youth employment, skills development, urban governance, tourism, and economic cooperation.
Daasebre was accompanied by a distinguished delegation comprising traditional leaders, advisors, public servants, academics, and tourism industry stakeholders. Together, they engaged with policymakers, local government authorities, and development agencies in NRW to explore practical frameworks for cooperation.
In his remarks at the State Parliament, Daasebre emphasized the importance of deepening people-to-people and city-to-city collaborations as tools for development. He highlighted the potential of a twinning agreement to facilitate knowledge exchange, attract investment, and create job opportunities for the youth of Koforidua and beyond.
The visit also served as a platform to present the cultural and economic strengths of the Eastern Region of Ghana, and to invite German partners to participate in future initiatives in education, technology, and tourism.
