The Upper West Regional Police Command has finally caught a notorious armed robber named Adinan Mahmoud, also known as Okra. The 25-year-old, who’s been a headache for the region, was nabbed after a smart operation led by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
Okra had been hiding out in Sandemuni, a suburb of Wa Municipality, since being put on the police wanted list. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, they tracked him down and made the arrest. Just two days later, on Monday, June 2, the Wa Circuit Court found him guilty.
Okra had admitted to working with other suspects in a series of conspiracies to rob people.
The court presided over by His Honor Jonathan Avogo sentenced him to 18 years of hard labor.
His two accomplices, Abdulai Ibrahim (alias Baba) and Abdulai Kipo, said they weren’t guilty. They’re still in police custody, waiting for their trial to continue on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in the same court.
This was revealed in a statement released and signed by Mr Michael Toya ASP of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Upper West Regional Police Command
