The upcoming presidential election is about trust- John Mahama

The presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has said the 2020 presidential election will be determined by two underlying factors.

According to him, the election will be won based on who is trustworthy and has superior records.

The former president stated that Nana Akufo Addo won the last presidential election with juicy and unrealistic promises and according to him, Ghanaians are discerning and will not fall to such promises anymore.

Speaking to the Chiefs and people in the Upper West region as part of his campaign tour, Mr Mahama described the defeat of the NDC in the 2016 elections as a blessing in disguise.

He said Ghanaians have had the opportunity to best compare the two administrations while pointing out that president Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP has no records to compare to the NDC prior to the 2020 general elections.

“The NPP has been in power for three and half years and it provides Ghanaians the opportunity to compare the records of the two administrations.”

He said promises such as 1V1D, 1D1F, $1m per constituency that were promised by Nana Akufo Addo sounds sweet in the ear of the electorates.

HE John Mahama described the 1V1D as a monumental waste of the tax payers money indicating that You can lie your way to win election but you cannot lie to sustain power.

Touching on the implementation of the free SHS policy, the NDC flag bearer insisted that the policy was hurriedly implemented subjecting it to a lot of vulnerabilities such as inadequate classrooms, dormitories and many others.

“The government has robbed the tax payer of the money he has contributed and they have robbed the students of quality education.

He said he will complete all abandon projects to address the teething challenges of the free SHS policy including double track system.

“If Nana Akufo Addo had completed the E- blocks, each would have contained thousand students and six thousand students in the region would have prevented double track.”

He said the activities of small scale mining is high on their plans and explained that activities of mining will be recategorized into small, medium and large scale mining in his next administration.

John Mahama accused the NPP government of taking people’s excavators and concessions to their family members and friends and promised to return them to their rightful owners when voted into power.

The NDC flag bearer promised to create mining cooperatives with 21 members which will be working with mining safety officers to closely monitor the activities.

“We have spelt out in our manifesto that mining cooperatives will be created and they will set money aside in their operations for purposes of reclamation.” says the former president

John Dramani Mahama revealed that the NDC has got the opportunity to do retrospection and that made it the better choice.
