Anthony Karbo given one week ultimatum to connect Babile-Baagangne to the national grid

The chiefs and people of Babile-Baagangne in the Lawra municipality in the Upper West Region have expressed worry over the reluctance of the MCE and the MP to address the myriad of challenges affecting the people in the community.

In a press statement copied to Home Radio on November 16, 2020, the community expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of commitment by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Lawra Municipality, Martin Bomba-Ire to fulfill his promise of providing electricity to the community.

They lamented over what they described as deliberate discrimination against the people of Babile-Baagangne after failed attempts to get the area connected to the national grid.

“Why should we suffer this discrimination in the hands of the sons of our land.” the statement quizzed

The statement revealed that the people are wallowing in anguish due to the lack of basic amenities such as access roads, water, electricity and health facilities.

According to the statement, the MCE reneged on his promise to address the electricity challenges after assuring the chiefs of his utmost resolve to light up the area during a “meet the press series” held at the Lawra Municipal Assembly Hall on 8th November, 2019.

The statement decried the indifferent attitude of the MCE, Martin Bomba-Ire and MP, Anthony Karbo to represent the NPP government in the Municipality and constituency.

“The lackadaisical attitude of the MP and MCE is making the NPP and president Akufo-Addo unpopular in the community and this will surely affect the fortune of the NPP and President Akufo-Addo in the community in the upcoming election if pragmatic steps are not taken to address these concerns.”

The statement added that steps were taken to extend electricity to the area as high tension poles and wires were mounted but has been left to rot subsequently.

They said they are saddened with the development and therefore indicated their readiness to unleash their wrath on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if nothing is done.

“We are giving the MCE and MP a one week ultimate from the date of the statement to electrify Babile-Baagangne or face our wrath.” it reiterated
