Chiefs in Kaleo Traditional Area extols Alban Bagbin

The Chiefs and Queen Mothers in Kaleo traditional area has extolled the virtues of Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for his recent elevation to the position of the Speaker of Parliament.


The traditional area which includes 45 divisional Chiefs, 136 sub Chiefs declared their overwhelming support for their former lawmaker to succeed as the Speaker of the 8th Parliament.

The eskinment of the Chief of Sombo, Naa Yelpoee Mwaamuo II on the day was the icing on the cake for the people especially Sombo, where the Speaker comes from.

Addressing the people in a short ceremony at Kaleo, the acting president of the Kaleo traditional area who doubles as the Chief of Kanyini, Naa Kandemekpe II stated that there is utmost joy in the area for the feat chalked by Rt Hon ASK Bagbin.

“Today is a special day for the good people of Sombo as their Chief Naa Yelpoee Mwaamuo II is being enskined today, but the joy of this occasion cannot be limited to the people of Sombo only but to all citizens of the Kaleo traditional area and the Nadowli/Kaleo district at large.” he noted

According to him, the Chiefs and people in the traditional area are proud that their son has risen to become the first Speaker of Parliament to ever come from the Upper West Region.

“Our son having set the record as the longest serving Member of Parliament, spanning from the first parliament to the just ended seventh parliament, has risen to become the speaker of parliament, in fact the first speaker to ever come from our region.”

Naa Kandemekpe II therefore called on the people to join them extend felicitations to the Speaker of the 8th Parliament adding that “may your turner as speaker be successful and one that will be remembered for all the good reasons in our proud history as a country.”
