All final year students preparing for the 2021 WASSE in Ghanaian schools have been handed an extra 4-week holidays.

The short notice, which incurred the wrath of the Ghanaian populace, moved the reopening of the Senior High School year three students from April 7 to May 5, 2021.

With some students already reporting to their various schools after a month’s break, students and parents were stunned by the latest move from the Education Ministry despite the surety of uninterrupted contact hours.

The communiqué cited uninterrupted contact hours as the leverage for the decision to postpone the reopening with another break slated for May 28 in the initial format.

With the tracking system used at the SHS across the country, many are of the view that accommodating all three badges of students concurrently could create problems due to infrastructural setbacks.

Before the resumption of the year threes for the last phase of their 3-year programme, the current badge of students are expected to vacate schools to create room for their seniors.

The decision to postpone the reopening means that the form threes have been handed 60 days break ahead of their scheduled WASSCE later in the year.
