Wa West Traditional Areas Front For Bashirudeen Yahaya As DCE Race Takes Shape

The political battle in Wa West is nearing its peak with a sensational change in the dynamics on who gets the nod as the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the District.

The already heated contest welcome a new face in Mr. Bashirudeen Mohammed Yahaya, an NPP stalwart who handle affairs of the party at the grassroots level.

Known as “the orchestra” on the political parlance, Mr Bashirudeen Mohammed Yahaya needs no introduction within the Wa West belt of the Upper West Region.

In what appears to be a youth and Chiefdom project for someone with grass roots affiliations, Bashirudeen is in a comfortable lead in the race for the Wa West DCE.

With traceable roots to vibrant youth wings like the Movement for Bawumia (Upper West Coordinator) and Tescon – NJA College of Education (Patron).

Mr Bashirudeen Yahaya is highly revered by people in all walks of life in the constituency and cuts across most zones from Dorimon to Wichiau and to Lassia. It’s not a mistake some nicknamed him Machiavelli.

His generous hands and down to earth nature earned the respect of many opinion leaders. As a grassroots man he has been Fundamental in the nurturing of party youth in Wa West.

“His appointment as a DCE will see the party wrestle power from the long held control parliamentary seat of the NDC.
Places like Dorimon, Wichiau, Ga and Gurungu where the NDC sweeps will be cut out due to his relationship with such towns. Wa West needs such hands to maneuver the system to the advantage of the NPP.

“He is the type of leader needed to help our PC end the political hoodoo in Wa West constituency”, a party faithful reveals on conditions of anonymity.

Many cited his understanding of party, governance and links within the party as the main reason why they should appoint him.

“We are talking about someone whose appointment will benefit the party beyond Upper West Region. He is loved both in NDC and NPP because of who he is and will bond the party with his skills and position. If I am given the nod I will confirm him with eyes closed. We can’t miss out on stars like this in the name of who you know. It is either Bashirudeen or another wrong and self motivated decision”, a physically disappointed NPP member explodes.

Politcal pundits are playing their cards around Mr Bashirudeen Mohammed Yahaya to take over the Wa West DCE to cap a new era for the NPP within the constituency.
