UWR: Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV bans LGBTQI+ activities with immediate effect

Persons who may have been involved in homosexuality and other practices related to LGBTQI+ in Wa will punished severely henceforth.

The Overlord of the Wala Traditional Area Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpou IV held a press conference to prohibit the activities of Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI+) in his catchment area.

The spokesperson of Wa Naa, Jinpenhi Naa Kadiri Ibrahim on Thursday, 29th July, 2021 indicated the readiness of the Traditional Council to ruthlessly deal with persons who would have engaged in the activities of LGBTQI+.

The Wa Naa in consultation with the traditional council and other stakeholders abhors all forms of LGBTQI+ in Wa and it’s environs with immediate effect.

According to him, anti-LGBTQI+ task force will immediately be constituted to curtail LGBTQI+ activities that has raised its ugly head in recent times.

With some MPs pushing for the Parliament of Ghana to pass an anti LGBTQI+ law, the Wa Naa expressed confidence in the steps taken to end the menace.

“We are aware that the issue is before parliament. We trust our representatives to do the right thing. However, due to the fact that sometimes, final results of parliamentary deliberations take time in coming out, we see the need to act now. The situation may sink beyond salvaging by the time our august house takes a stand on it. Therefore without prejudice to the outcome of parliaments’ deliberation on this issue, the deviant sexual activities of lesbians, gays, transgenders, queers etc are banned in the Wala traditional area with immediate effect. The Punishment for breaching the ban will be swift and severe” he warned.

As part of the measures adopted by the Wa Naa to end the practice, religious leaders were encouraged to preach against LGBTQI+ activities in their daily sermons.

The traditional council according to Naa Kadiri Ibrahim will be compelled to organize a gargantuan demonstration to show their disgust against the practice while urging parents and guardians to advice their wards against LGBTQI+.
