UER: Amidu Chinnia Issahaku inspects ongoing water supply project

The deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Amidu Chinnia Issahaku has inspected the construction of a water supply project in the Upper East Region.

The Sissala East Member of Parliament toured the project areas on behalf of the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources with the Upper East Regional Minister to see the progress of work.

The president cut sod for the construction of the project in 2019 and the project is expected to be completed in September this year.

As part of efforts to improve water supply in the Upper East Region, a new Water facility is being constructed in Tono which is about 96% complete and constitute the major portion of the project.

Another facility in Vea is being rehabilitated to meet modern standards.

When the project is completed, all the over 12,000 households which are connected to Ghana water currently will get regular flow of water in their homes and in addition 4,800 households are being connected.

In all the project is expected to benefit 350,000 people in the Upper East Region and the irregular supply of Water in the region particularly Bolga, Navrongo, Bongo, Zuarungu and other surrounding communities will be a thing of the past.

The contractor is on course to complete the project and according to the Deputy Minister, he was satisfied with the work done so far.

Amidu Chinnia used the opportunity to thank the Upper East Regional minister for the warm reception and joining him to spend the whole day going round different locations of the project.
