The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih has bemoaned the devastation caused by heavy rain across the region.
The downpour lasted for 8 hours on Thursday 12th August, 2021 and washed off several roads and houses displacing many people and curtailing movement across the region.
Dr Hafiz Bin Salih led members of REGSEC and other stakeholders to areas that were badly hit by the heavy rain to take inventory of damage caused.
Addressing the media at Goriyiri, the Regional Minister said he was heart broken and lamented that no district was spared.
He encouraged the populace to brace themselves for the difficulty while assuring that the situation will be faced head on.
Dr Hafiz Bin Salih urged the police to up their game and direct vehicles to pass alternative routes.
He said the people should be educated so that they don’t endanger their lives and encouraged those living in low lying areas to evacuate from those areas in the interim.
